You might think by now that I’ve only done failed sessions. But nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve already tested so much. I know where I don’t need to snorkel in my own environment in the winter. I also know that underwater life only really comes to the shallow parts around April. The attachments of my pencils work fine, as I want them to. Snorkeling with a dry suit with and without fins works fine for me. I can and dare to go snorkeling alone now, even in areas where I can no longer stand in the water. That feels safe enough for me. And I can name many more.
I couldn’t pick out one specific element that makes me very happy right away. But the fact that I found the paper that is made of stone gives me a lot of joy. Besides the fact that it is cheaper (always nice), it is mainly the environmental aspect that makes me happy. But drawing underwater also goes well on it. And above water it is also very nice to work with it when I use watercolors for example. The film in this blog gives a kind of total picture of what is involved in a ‘day’ of snorkeling and drawing. This time it is without underwater life. I promise that the next snorkel film in Dutch water will be with underwater life.
The following blogs will be about diving and drawing in cold water. Because I also want to test some things in that area. Like for example how I can best take the clipboard with me. And I will also go into more detail about materials. But okay, now I am getting ahead of myself. First this cold water impression.
