In a previous blog I showed you what preparations I make when I go snorkeling in cold water. I also showed that sometimes you have to make the decision to cancel a snorkeling session. If you missed that blog, look here.
But of course it is much more fun to see how it works to draw underwater, if everything goes well in terms of safety.
And in terms of safety it went very well. I had brought my wife and I would test whether floating in my dry suit without fins would work. If I unexpectedly fell over and couldn’t get up again, she could save me. We looked for a piece of water where the water surface looked calm. It was a success with the dry suit. Good, because especially in shallower water the fins would only be more difficult and possibly stir up a lot of ‘dust’.
But there were some other obstacles. The water remained shallow and where it eventually became deeper, it was too dark and too restless. There was also no real underwater life to be found. And finally, it turned out that I had forgotten to bring paper for my clipboard🤣🤣🤣.
Mission accomplished? Yes, because I had gained new knowledge about this location. I would try another lake nearby, next time.
