You might find my blogs a bit haphazard. In the middle of my series of experiences with drawing in and under water, I’m posting a vlog about a restaurant. And now, another blog about World Clean Up Day. The blog about the restaurant came about because I was so enamored with it that I “had” to share it. And i thought it was a good idea to post the blog about World Clean Up Day before the date itself. Worldwide, initiatives are being developed on September 20th to remove waste from land. But you don’t have to limit yourself to land. Removing waste from a local ditch, beach, or lake is also fine. You don’t have to do it in an organized way either. Although that might be more fun.
Be careful not to get too enthusiastic about cleaning up. Some pieces of waste have been lying around for so long that a natural habitat has developed. A plastic cup, for example, might have become inhabited by shells. Consider for yourself whether it’s a good idea to clean that up. You don’t have to save these activities for September 20th. Make it a habit to pick up litter when you’re walking, cycling, swimming, or diving. The photo in this blog post was taken in Egypt, where I picked up some litter while diving. There’s even a trend called plogging. Plogging is a combination of the Swedish words plocka upp (pick up) and jogging. While plogging, participants literally and figuratively turn picking up litter into a sport.
Want to be tidy? Then get busy with some friends or family on September 20th.
