Yes, it’s just going to happen.
I have often been asked to publish a book following my holiday and diving blogs. However, I couldn’t imagine that others, other than my family and friends, would be interested in that. This is different with this subject. I think discussing the topic of nature journaling in and under water really has added value. You can also just call it drawing, sketching or scribbling in and under water. which suits you best.
By observing and drawing underwater life, there is a significant chance that you will become more connected to that environment and its inhabitants. Of course you can also take photos. But practice has shown that with self-observation and recording you see and remember much more.
My website complements the information from the book. In the book I go into more detail about materials, the influence of water on the body, the costs of materials, how I implement drawing underwater, etc. The Vlogs and Flogs on the website visualize how this can work in practice. I am extremely proud that John Muir Laws, despite making him addicted to drawing in the water, was willing to write the foreword in my book.
I am sorry to tell you that for the moment the book wil only be published in Dutch. I am working with my publisher to convince them that a book in the English language is profitable (for them) too. Nevertheless, the coming weeks I will take you into the process of writing this book and having it published. The estimation is that the Dutch book will be available in stores from October (2025). If you are interested in an English version, it might help if you use the so-called pre-order link. Or you can mail me.
